As part of the Novo mesto Health care Centre, there is a Health Education Centre (ZVC), which conducts free health education workshops for all generations of residents of the wider Dolenjska Region. The centre’s activities are aimed at education, raising awareness sand counseling in relation to a healthy lifestyle, as well as active assistance to individuals in maintaining a healthy lifestyle or in changing risky lifestyle habits. With the support of the European Varcities project, ZVC also carries out its activities in the Olympic Centre Novo mesto.
Health Education Centre organizes health education workshops in medical centers, schools, kindergartens, workplaces, societies and in the local community. With the opening of the Novo mesto Swimming Pool, workshops are also held in the water and on the green areas of the Novo mesto Olympic Centre.
As part of the Together for Health programme, they conduct health education workshops aimed at all adult residents of Slovenia, and also health education for the health of children and adolescents and oral health education. The workshops are free of charge and take place at pre-arranged times.

The adult health promotion programme is for people older than 19 and is free of charge. It offers professional support in taking care of a healthier and quality life. The programme consists of a preventive examination in a family medicine clinic, group workshops and individual counseling for help and support in changing lifestyles and strengthening mental health. The workshops are intended to promote health at the workplace and activities to strengthen health in the local community by prior arrangement.
No referral is required for the workshops listed below, it is enough to contact the Health Education Center on 07/39-16-888 or 07/39-16-766 or to send an email at zvc@zd-nm.si. You will be informed about the start of the workshops in writing or by phone. The workshops are held as a one-time meeting.
- Health promotion – a healthy lifestyle.

- Am I fit?
- Type 2 diabetes.
- Relaxation techniques.
- Healthy relationships.
- Coping with stress.
- Group or individual anti-smoking counseling.
- Individual counseling – together for responsible drinking of alcohol, basic and follow-up part.
You are directed to the workshops in the form of multiple meetings by a doctor or a reference nurse.
You will be directed to the workshops listed below by your personal physician, specialist physician, reference nurse, or psychiatrist based on the results of a preventive examination, in which the possible presence of risk factors for the development of non-communicable chronic diseases is detected. The workshops are held as multiple meetings.
- Healthy diet.
- Being physically active.
- Healthy weight loss.
- Living with diabetes.
- Support in coping with anxiety or depression.
Preparation for childbirth and parenthood, education for the health of children and adolescents, education for oral health
The School for Parents workshop is also held at the Health Education Center. The programme is free of charge and is carried out every month at previously announced dates. They also carry out health education in kindergartens, elementary, middle, high schools and colleges, as well as education and promotion of dental and oral health. The Health Education Centre also has an SVIT information point, where individuals can obtain information about the SVIT national prevention programme. You can contact the info point every Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
