The European Union established this network as a key part of the Birds and Habitats Directives with the aim of protecting the precious natural environment.
In the heart of the Temenica habitat, there are more than 300 species of animals and more than 500 species of plants, creating a unique and rich ecosystem. You are invited to discover this natural gem and explore the hidden treasures of our beautiful surroundings.
We have planted indigenous plants in the Olympic Center, which significantly contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and create a healthy, natural environment for all visitors and athletes. Take a walk among our diverse tree species that are marked and equipped with QR codes that allow you to access additional information about individual plants. In our green space, you have the opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy its beauty and harmony.
The Temenica habitat is home to more than 300 species of animals, making it one of the most biodiverse areas in the region. Among its inhabitants there are numerous birds that nest here or stop over during migration, as well as a variety of mammals, whose presence significantly contributes to the balance of the ecosystem. Two protected species from Natura 2000 stand out in particular − the endangered pond turtle and the playful otter, which symbolize the conservation and natural importance of this area. In addition, numerous species of amphibians and reptiles live in the wetlands and forests, playing a key role in maintaining the natural balance. The Temenica River thus represents an invaluable natural treasure that invites all nature lovers to discover its unique biodiversity.
